President

   

David Thompson
District 2

David Thompson was born and raised in the Sulphur Springs Valley and has been a Valley Telephone Cooperative member since 1990. He grew up on a farm in Kansas Settlement and is now a Cattle Rancher in the Chiricahua Mountains southeast of Willcox with his wife, Tina. David was appointed to the Valley Telephone Cooperative Board on April 28, 1999 to represent District 2. Since being appointed, David has served on the Audit, Nominating, Scholarship, Policy, Executive and Finance Committees. He has served as the Board Secretary/Treasurer and the Arizona Legislative coordinator and currently serves as the Board President.

William Swift
District 1

William A. Swift (“Bunch) grew up on a farm and ranch north of Rodeo, New Mexico. After graduating from Animas High School in 1991, he went to South Plains College in Levelland, Texas and graduated with an Associates of Applied Science degree and then transferring to Texas Tech University, he graduated with honors with a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science in 1995. Coming home to Animas after graduation, he has spent the last 21 years working at Elbrock Water Systems as a certified pump installer and well driller with the National Ground Water Association. Bunch has been a member of the Animas Public School Board for the last 6 years and is currently in his 15th year on the Board at Valley.

Joe Chapin
District 3

 


Joseph Allen (Joe) Chapin was born in Bellingham, Washington, and is a retiree. He and his wife Kimberly, have lived on their small ranch near Bonita, Arizona for 36 years. Joe has a Bachelor Degree from Waylan Baptist University, and has been involved with telephone service for more than 30 years. Joe was a network specialist with the Arizona Department of Corrections where he performed all of the communication functions for the Fort Grant Prison. After retiring, Joe contracted with Bonita Elementary School to setup and run their computer network. In 2007, Joe received a Certificate of Completion for the Director’s Core Curriculum, a series of classes given by the National Telephone Cooperative Association to train Directors to better manage their Cooperative’s assets and business.

George May
District 1


George May was born in Tucson, Arizona, attended Lutheran School and graduated from Tucson High School.  During his career with the Tucson Fire Department he and two friends started a business that did concrete and framing work for new houses and businesses. He sold his part of the business when he bought land in Cochise County and began developing his retirement home. For Fourteen years George served in various positions on the Board of Directors of the Golder Ranch Fire Department in northwest Tucson. George was appointed to the Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc., Board of Directors, District number one in 1998. Since thenhe has served on the Finance, Wage and Bonus, Employee Relations, Audit, Executive Policy, Nominating Review, and Scholarship Committees. George also has served as Secretary/Treasurer and President of the Board.

Carol Miller
District 1

 


Carrol Miller has been on the Board of Valley Telephone Cooperative for fifteen years and completed all of the NTCA Director Certification seminars that are offered. She is well versed on the industry and the management of the Cooperative. She is a longtime resident in the Valley serving area and under her leadership, the community of Rodeo has built a community center that is adequate in size to hold community functions. She was also pivotal in helping establish Emergency Medical Technician service for her community. Carrol has had the honor of serving as an Officer and on the Executive Committee with Valley Telephone. Her attendance record for the board meeting is close to one hundred percent and understands the necessity to go over all of the information put out for the board before each meeting. As a longtime resident she is hoping to continue to serve on this board to assure the communications business is an affordable and reliable service.

Thomas Kuykendall
District 2

 

 

Tom Kuykendall is a cattle rancher from Cochise County, located in the Rucker Canyon area. Tom has been a member of Valley Telephone Cooperative since 1964 and has completed his fifth term on the Board of Directors representing District 2.  While serving on the Board, he has been actively involved in meetings, national seminars, and scheduled events.  He has served on the Executive, Finance, Audit, Nominating, Wage and Bonus, Policy and Scholarship Committees, and also served several years as the Board Vice President.  Mr. Kuykendall says this has been done with great pride, teamwork and a firm belief in the concept of a member owned cooperative.  He commends the fellow Board members, the CEO and all of the employees for the hard work and dedication; they are the heartbeat of success for Valley Telephone. Tom believes that today’s youth are tomorrow’s future.  This is why he dedicates a lot of time over the years as a volunteer for many youth groups and organizations.

Jyme Stoner
District 3

 

 

Jyme Stoner was named to the Valley Telephone Cooperative Board of Directors on January 1, 1999. to fill the vacancy left in District #3. Jyme has served on the Finance, Policy, Wage and Bonus and Nominating Review Committees. Jyme has served on nine various boards throughout his career which include Board of Trustees, Pacific International Livestock Exposition, Industrial Development Committee for the State of Oregon and Budget Board of the Port Hood River. Jyme worked thirty-two years in the banking industry both wholesale and retail, in addition to ten years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He was one of the first employees to be loaned by the FDIC to the RTC Saving and Loan Project. After retiring in 1995, Jyme and his wife Billie settled in Sunsites where they both kept busy serving the community until Billie’s health gave out three years ago.

Eva Morin
District 2

 

 

Eva Morin was born in Newark, New Jersey and at the age of thirteen her family moved to Arizona. She graduated from Tucson High School and attended Cochise College in Douglas where she studied agriculture. Eva married her husband, Howard Morin in 1985, raising two daughters Richelle and Amber on the cattle ranch they purchased in 1991. Eva began working for the San Simon Port of Entry after moving to the area. She later worked for the San Simon School District in various capacities including the Director of Transportation and Maintenance Departments.  Since retiring from the school district in 2016, Eva has been appointed to the Valley Telephone Cooperative Board of Directors and has served on the Scholarship Committee. This past year she has served on the Policy, Audit and Search committees. Her passion is helping today’s youth create a better tomorrow, for themselves as well as others.

Marti Tingle
District 3

 

Marti Tingle grew up on the family farm in San Simon, Arizona where she graduated high school. After earning a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M she moved back to the Willcox area where she worked as a bank teller, then later as a loan assistant. Currently she and her husband, Danny, farm in the Sulphur Springs Valley with their three kids. She enjoys helping out with the local sports teams and clubs her kids participate in and is involved in youth ministries. As a past scholarship recipient she enjoyed serving as a member on Valley TeleCom’s scholarship committees. Now she is excited to be on the Board of Directors, having been appointed in December 2017.  She feels becoming a Director for Valley TeleCom is a great opportunity for her to serve the community.

 



John Lacy
Legal Council

 

 

John C. Lacy is a Shareholder in the Tucson office of DeConcini, McDonald, Yetwin and Lacy, P.C.. His practice emphasizes mining and public land law and encompasses transactional and title consideration involving acquisition of mineral rights from private and governmental agencies together with permitting issues and associated water rights.  Mr. Lacy also devotes a substantial portion of his time representing Valley TeleCom Group. Mr. Lacy is a past President of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Arizona Historical Society. He graduated from The University of Arizona College of Law in 1967 and was admitted to the Arizona Bar that same year.  He served in the United States Army’s Judge Advocate General’s Corps in Vietnam during 1969-70.
